07/01/2010 - Casper native Jim Spaulding proposed to his wife, Tammy, at Washington Park -- the same place their picture on the cover was taken. The couple, who just celebrated their nineteenth wedding anniversary, attended the same junior high and high school, and started dating in college (Casper College/UW). "God has blessed me with a wonderful, caring wife and children who are dedicated to persevere no matter the circumstances," Jim says.

Jim's first teaching job after graduating college was in Shoshoni. "Our goal was to move back to Casper to raise our children," Tammy says. "What better place to raise your children than in a great community that offers many activities and opportunities with the added bonus of all four grandparents in town!" Jim has taught math at Kelly Walsh High School for 14 years and coaches seventh grade boys basketball at Centennial.

Tammy works with three to five year-olds at St. Mark's Day School. "I love my job. It's a joy working with little kiddos. You never know what they will do or say. It keeps me laughing."

Nathan (15) is a sophomore at Kelly Walsh High School and a member of the National Honor Society. He plays basketball and runs track at KW. He also enjoys golfing. Nathan has been on several mission trips with Highland Park Community Church and is traveling to Orlando this summer with Spread the Word, either renovating or constructing new inner-city churches. He will also attend the International Youth Conference. Nathan enjoys asking for the car keys whenever the family goes somewhere.

Twelve-year-old Jared is a sixth grader at Casper Classical Academy. He likes playing basketball, golfing and swimming. He enjoys singing with the Casper Children's Chorale. They competed in Orlando, FL this spring, winning many awards and were invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in NY in 2012.

Jenna (10) is a fifth grader at Fort Casper Academy. She loves her tap class and has really enjoyed dancing with the performance company at Beautiful Feet. She was thrilled to find out that she was accepted to perform with the Casper Children's Chorale this year.

The Spauldings especially enjoy spending time together with family. "Our favorite thing to do together in Casper is raft the river. We also like to take family vacations - our favorite is to visit family in Michigan and go to Cedar Point Amusement Park," Tammy says.

The Spauldings try not to miss eating one meal together as a family, choosing to spend this time catching up with each other and connecting together by talking about the highs and lows of the day. They enjoy attending church together and being involved in the children's activities. They strive to be encouragers to each other. "We have adopted a family motto of 'Let Go, Let God' and, as a family, our inspirational verse is 'I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me' - Phillipians 4:13," says Tammy.

When interacting with various members of the Spaulding family one can't help but notice that their strategy seems to be working. They are a great asset to our community.
