To your health

Did you know?

04/01/2008 - Howdy!! I hope you have enjoyed your "get up and go" exercises. I also hope many of you are continuing to do them and hopefully you added to them.

Today we are going to have some fun and just go over some different interesting topics as well as make some observations.

From the "did you know" category: Jack LaLane, the fitness guru's older brother died earlier this year. He was 96 years old (WOW!). Now your first thought may have been that, like Jack, he must have gotten up very early in the morning, taken a handful of supplements, done some juicing, and taken a swim in the ocean. No way! He liked to drink beer and whiskey and have an occasional smoke. Just goes to show you that genetics play a big part. Genetic makeup, if properly expressed, goes a long way in effecting one's health.

Splenda...is it safe? Splenda, also known as sucralose is three chlorine molecules binding to a molecule of sugar. From the book, Splenda: Is it Safe or Not?: The chlorine reacts with organic material (we can substitute humans here) to create chlorination by-products (CBPs) that can trigger chronic symptoms like fatigue, headaches and brain fog, as well as reproductive and immune problems. Therefore, by consuming Splenda, you are creating a toxic dump in your cells which your overworked antioxidants must deal with.

Speakng of toxic dumps, most Americans have to watch their drinking water now that there is a pharmacopoeia of medications contained therein. Heck, if that wasn't bad enough, now we have to worry about "out gasing" from the plastic bottles if they get too warm, resulting in chemicals from the plastic entering the water.

...Now I'm probably going to get in trouble for this from my editor, who doesn't like me to talk about overly controversial subjects...(editor's note: This article .

ends here but we must note that we are so very grateful for Dr. Marc Delgadillo, who has a passion for helping his patients and this community make wise health decisions. He has seen many preventable health issues in his practice and through this column seeks to educate our community and thereby prevent the unnecessary suffering he observes on a daily basis.)
