10/01/2006 - "If I was a dog, this is where I'd want to come," says Ben Dixon. "If [Dr. Thies] could treat me, I'd come here." Winston and Molly, Ben's two Miniature Schnauzers are fortunate enough to have that pleasure.

Jim Thies grew up on a ranch and always had a love for animals. "I don't think I ever wanted to be anything else," he shares. The realization of his dream came in 1980 when Ark Animal Hospital opened for business.

Jim's goal is to do the best, fairest and most honest job. One of his greatest rewards is when he sees a dog who had come in sick trot out the door with its tail wagging. Ark Animal Hospital has a pleasant atmosphere. Located on Swingle Road, it feels set apart from the crowd, yet it is conveniently close by. The friendly, helpful staff and competitive prices complete the package. Dr. Thies knows that your pets are part of the family, too, and he will treat them well. He has a wonderful bedside manner, enjoying both the animals and their human friends. Their are even treats on the counter for well-behaved pets!

Jim tells us the most challenging thing about his job is fitting the busy schedule in with family life. Although he loves his work, we're sure Jim's favorite part of the day is when he comes home to his wife, Leslie and 12-year-old son Sam, who is a football player at Dean Morgan. Jim also has two lovely daughters, Adrienne, who graduated from Casper College with a teaching degree and is now tutoring at Mountain View, and Mallory, a freshman who is majoring in nursing.

"The Casper community has been really good to me," says Jim. "I love the people. I love the country. I just hope to be here until I die." We hope so too, Jim!
