11/01/2005 - "I like to cook what I like to eat," says Kevin Flynn. (Check out some of Kevin's recipes in our "Home on the Range" recipes feature on the opposite page.) "I don't like really bland food. If I cook it I can have it the way I like it." Kevin seems to have a permanent twinkle in his eye and one can't help imagining this big, strong hunter in a chef's hat and an apron cooking some of the game he and his 15-year-old son, Justin returned home with after a recent hunt.

Justin says his dad is "really fun to hunt with 'cause he is easy going – not too serious. He's also very encouraging and positive. He taught me most of what I know about hunting, like how to field dress an animal. He's a pretty good father because he doesn't lose his temper too often. He can be hilarious at times."

His wife of sixteen years, Brenda, says "He's just wonderful. He was really God's gift to me. He's so multitalented...cooks...paints...He takes good care of all of us."

Kevin met Brenda when he was helping a friend move. The friend introduced them and six months later they were married. Sixteen years later they still look into each other's eyes and smile. The couple is also blessed with a sweet 11-year-old daughter, Megan.

Kevin became interested in painting when he took a high school art class. His dad was painting and Kevin took up the hobby. He mostly focuses on landscapes when he paints. He's an outdoors kind of guy and appreciates nature.

Kevin enjoys living in the Casper area because, "It's like a small town." He goes on to say, "It's not like a bigger town, with all the crime and such."

Kevin is a foreman and co-owner of Salt Creek Welding, Inc., a family owned business that has been in operation here in Casper for more than 37 years. The company constructs oil and water storage tanks for oil companies and cities across most of the western United States. This work keeps Kevin out of town a great deal, but he still finds time to cook, paint and spend time with his family.

We're glad you're part of our community, Kevin. We appreciate you and your family.
