Allen & Allen Insurance
Wouldn't it be nice if insurance agents treated their clients as friends? Bill and B.J. Allen of Allen & Allen Insurance think so. "We enjoy adding a personal touch to the business," Bill says.
After managing Hughes Lumber in Glenrock and Russell Lumber in Douglas, Bill became interested in insurance. In 1993 he started work as a Farmer's Insurance agent. B.J., desiring to work alongside his father, went to work for the Buffalo branch in 1997. In 2001, Bill became a partner with A & A Insurance where he worked for 2 ˝ years.
Their desire to work together was finally realized in January 2004 when they established Allen & Allen Insurance Agency.
Gerry, Bill's wife of 37 years, and his other son, John, have full time jobs elsewhere but enjoy helping at the agency when they can.
Allen & Allen offers a diversity of insurance lines including auto, home, boats, motorcyles, trucking, oil field, life, bonding, RV's and mobile homes and the agency also offers a special market in the area of classic cars and hot rods
This friendly, family-owned-and-operated business is located at 907 N. Poplar, Suite 263 and you can call them at 266-5600.
Roberto's Mexican Grille
"We're passionate about serving the very best fresh-mex meal you can get anywhere," says Robert Gilmore of Roberto's Mexican Grille. If you've dined at the 2nd St. restaurant, you know exactly what he means.
Roberto's offers a wide variety of traditional Mexican favorites – grilled burritos, tacos and quesadillas to name a few – but also takes a departure from tradition with their delicious Mexican barbecue dishes. Enjoy a giant cup of "fruity lemonade," a sweet, pink drink with the flavor of six fresh fruits.
Your choice of meats includes pork, chicken, stek and beef along with shrimp. Watching your meal cooked right in front of you on a open-air grill is nothing but fun!
So how did it all get started? Robert and his son, Bobby, began formulating the concept in 1999. They built a trailer featuring their unique "open grill" and took it to Sturgis. They also took along a smoker, barbecuing 60 to 70 racks of ribs, but the fresh-mex was such a hit they ran out of meat before they ran out of customers. Thinking fast, Robert stripped the meat off the remaining ribs and Mexican barbecue was born! This barbecue was so popular it's been on the menu ever since.
Robert and Bobby had a hit on their hands. After serving it up at fairs in Casper and Douglas, the Beartrap Music Festival and various downtown events, they went to the Cinco de Mayo Festival where they had a line of customers from sun-up to sundown. By now, so many people were asking where else they could get the delicious food or if there was a restaurant that Robert and Bobby decided they may be onto something. With the help of Robert's nephew, Tony Weatherly, the 2nd St. location was up and running in Nov. 2002.
The fiesta didn't stop there. Roberto's now offers catering, claiming to be the "best in town". Robert says it's as easy as 1-2-3: 1) call in your order 2) pick out your items and price range and 3) enjoy a carefree meal. You can even have a salsa bar like the one in the restaurant that features tasty homemade toppings in mild, medium or hot. They can do fajita bars, tacos, burritos, nachos, taco salads and more.
If you've never visited this fun and unique restaurant, stop in and see what you're missing! If you have, you're probably drooling already, so what are you waiting for? Enjoy fresh-mex tonight!
Roberto's is located at the corner of 2nd St. and Beverly and you can phone them at
