Income Tax Assistance @ your Library

Could you use some help with your income tax return? IRS-certified volunteers will help you complete and e-file your tax return at the Natrona County Public Library each Friday now through April 13. Help will be offered for free on a first come, first served basis for low income families ($49,000 and below), seniors and students.

Those wishing to receive assistance should bring any tax documents received for 2011, social security card for identification and last year's tax return. Assistance is provided by the Wyoming Free Tax Service in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. Paper tax forms will also be available at the library for those wishing to complete tax returns on their own. For more information about this free program at your library, call 577-READ ext 2.


The Reaping: A Hunger Games Event for Teens

Teens are invited to the Natrona County Public Library for "The Reaping," a celebration in honor of the upcoming movie "The Hunger Games," based on the popular book series by Suzanne Collins. On Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m., be ready for battles of wits and skill, friends, fun and snacks along the way. The event is free, open to teens in grades 7-12, and will be held in the Crawford room. Let's Talk College: ACT Prep

If you plan to attend college, it is time to start thinking about taking the ACT. Learn what to do in preparation for this important college-entrance exam at the Natrona County Public Library. A "Let's Talk College" event focusing on ACT Prep will be held Tuesday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m. for teens, parents and others interested in higher education.

The class is presented by the UWCC Educational Opportunities Center, with a pizza dinner provided by the Friends of the Library. For more information about this free informational event, please call 577-READ ext 101.



Keep Money in Your Pocket During the Medicare Years

Seniors, family members, and other interested adults are invited to participate in a free, two-part series entitled "Keep Your Money in Your Pocket During the Medicare Years" to be held at the Natrona County Public Library. Informative sessions will be held Thursdays, March 22 and 29 from 6-8 p.m. in the library's Crawford room.

On March 22, attendees will learn the ins and outs of Medicare, Medicaid, Identity Theft Protection, and Long-Term Care Insurance, presented by representatives from a number of local service agencies. On March 29, learn about Wills, Probate and Estate Planning, Home Health Care, Hospice, and Funeral Planning. It pays to be prepared, and knowledge can be the best preparation! Tree Care and Selection

A healthy tree is a happy tree! Experienced and novice Wyoming Gardeners are invited to attend a "Tree Care and Selection" seminar at the Natrona County Public Library, Monday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to choose, plant, or care for trees on your property, with special tips related to Wyoming's climate and soil. This free, informational seminar will be presented by Donna Cuin of the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension service. Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared?

Important life decisions often have an impact on your wallet. Are you prepared for your financial future? "Key Life Decisions: Are You Prepared?" will be presented at the Natrona County Public Library, Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Crawford room. Learn about estate planning from a financial and legal perspective, presented by Laura Roberts of Edward Jones, and Marty Oblasser of Schwartz, Bon, Walker & Studer. This free, informational seminar will cover the ins and outs of estate planning, including leaving legacies, probate, power of attorney, and trust funds. Easter Cards Workshop

Beautiful greeting cards don't have to be reserved for Christmas and Valentine's day. Why not make a special card to celebrate Easter too? Kay Capps will present an Easter Cards Workshop Saturday, March 31, 1 p.m. at the Natrona County Public Library. Adults are invited to learn and practice new decorative techniques with the supplies provided. Please sign up in advance for this free workshop by calling 577-READ, ext. 2.



National Library Week

April 8-14 is National Library Week, the perfect time to see what the library is all about if you haven't been in a while. Although many people just think of books when they think of the library, modern libraries are actually thriving community centers offering learning and growth opportunities for everyone from infants to seniors.

You can participate by visiting the library any time this week. If you'd like to learn more about what your library has to offer, ask a librarian! Special events will be held throughout the week for various age groups, including a book discussion for adults, the Elementary Art Show and reception, computer classes, and a Poetry Slam for teens and adults.
