Pastor Profiles Ron Blauvelt, Faith Assembly of God

10/01/2005 - When asked about how he received the inspiration to become a pastor, Ron Blauvelt of Faith Assembly of God responds without hesitation. "Oh, I've known

since childhood," he says with a gleam in his eye "I used to preach at recess and at lunch break in my little, one-room country school."

"Pastor Ron", as he is affectionately called by members of his congregation, has been married to his wife, Nila, for 47 years. They're blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. When Ron first received the call to come to Casper, it was a little difficult for Nila because the move would take the couple many miles away from their children and grandchildren, however, when Ron went up on the mountain and looked out over the city of Casper, he wept. He felt a strong tug on his heartstrings to minister to the people of Casper and help them in any way he could.

Ron Blauvelt has done just that, spending himself tirelessly on behalf of the people of Casper. "He's just a great guy...a great pastor, a hard worker, faithful, kind...we really like him," says Shirley Elmore, a member of his congregation. "He's there seven days a week...evenings...weekends. If something doesn't get done, like cleaning the church, Pastor Ron rolls up his sleeves and does it." He can frequently be found plowing snow from the church parking lot.

Pastor Ron preached 20 years over a 10 state area as a lay minister and worked 16 and one-half years with youth from multiple denominations while simultaneously purchasing a tent and holding tent revival meetings in small towns and busing children from small country schools.

His first sermon in Casper was (aptly) delivered Thanksgiving weekend. Highlights of Ron's tenure at Faith Assembly include the construction of a 30,000 sq. ft. building, being featured twice in the Assemblies of God national publication as one of the main revival churches of America, four years of hosting Rocky Mountain Regional Family Camp Meetings, hosting a rural evangelical conference which included people from eight states, the Hope for the Philippines Ministry which feeds 450 kids per week, and MUCH MORE. The church is currently hosting a large clothing drive to benefit hurricane victims as well as the needy in the Casper community. A food pantry is another of the many ministries provided by the church.

Some of Pastor Ron's aspirations for the future include more buildings and athletic programs, such as baseball, basketball and volleyball. He also hopes to provide a huge community outreach program in cooperation with other churches on the 4th of July. His vision is to "touch this community, overflow into the state and as far into the world as the Lord will permit." Ron wants to see continued increasing of working together among the churches. "We can't get it all done ourselves. We need to work together," he says.

Our Town Casper honors you, Pastor Ron Blauvelt for all you do for our community!
