The Boys of Summer..........

07/01/2005 - Casper's Rockies are rolling this summer as we enjoy another season of professional baseball at Mike Lansing Field. At press time the Rockies were only 1 game out of 2nd place in their division.

Included on their roster this season is the first hometown player in Rockies' history. Former Natrona County Mustang Jesse Brownell recently completed his college career at the University of Iowa. As a member of the Casper Oilers American Legion team in 2001 Brownell led the Oilers to a state runner-up finish, hitting .510 with 16 home runs. Brownell then played at Lamar College in Colorado before heading to Iowa to play for the Hawkeyes. Brownell drove in 26 runs for Iowa in 2004 in addition to hitting a team high 4 triples. The Rockies coaching staff envisions Brownell as a utility-type player for them this season.

The Rockies offer affordable family fun with an array of promotional events and in-game entertainment. Every Friday night home game features fireworks. Fireworks games remaining this season are July 22nd and August 5th and 19th. Upcoming game promotions and giveaways are:
